Rewrite your headline, About section and experience so recruiters and clients can find you in search and quickly see why to contact you.

Estimated time: 60–90 minutesUpdated: 1 October 2026

Use this guide if you are job hunting, changing career or want clients to find you as a freelancer. Have your current CV, a recent clear photo and two or three job adverts you would like to apply for ready. The steps work on both the app and the website, though editing is easier on a computer.

Step by step

  1. Collect the keywords recruiters use

Open the job adverts you saved and highlight the job titles, skills, tools and qualifications that appear more than once. These are the words recruiters type into LinkedIn search. Make a list of ten to fifteen of them, using the exact phrases, such as 'project coordinator', 'Xero' or 'CSCS card'. You will use these naturally throughout your profile rather than stuffing them into one place.
