Books guide

Sell your books at Christmas fairs and markets

Book a stall, prepare stock, an attractive table, card payments and a short pitch, so you sell more copies of your book at winter fairs and markets.

Estimated time: 2–4 hours to prepare, plus the eventUpdated: 2 October 2026

Use this guide if you have a printed book, self-published or traditionally published, and want to sell copies face to face at Christmas fairs, craft markets or community events. Have your author copies or a way to order them, and check the dates of events near you this winter.

Step by step

  1. Find and book the right events

Look for Christmas fairs, craft markets, school and church fairs and library events in your area, many of which book stalls weeks in advance. Choose events whose visitors match your readers, for example a local history book at a heritage open day or a children's book at a school fair. Ask the organiser about stall fees, table size, whether they provide a table and chair, and whether you need public liability insurance.
