Consumer Help guide

Chase or cancel a late furniture or appliance delivery

Use your Consumer Rights Act delivery rights to set a firm new date for a late sofa, kitchen or appliance, and cancel for a full refund if it is missed.

Estimated time: 20–40 minutesUpdated: 1 October 2026

Use this guide when a sofa, bed, kitchen, appliance or other made-to-order item has not arrived by the date agreed, or the retailer keeps moving the date. Have your order confirmation, payment details and any messages about delivery dates ready.

Step by step

  1. Find the agreed delivery date

Check your order confirmation, receipt and emails for the delivery date or period you were given. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if no date was agreed, goods should be delivered without undue delay and within 30 days of the contract. Write down the agreed date and whether it was essential to you, for example because you said so at the time or the goods were for a specific event.
