Use this guide when your fixed deal is ending, you are on a standard variable tariff and want to check the alternatives, or you have moved home. Have a recent energy bill or your supplier app, and your current meter readings.
Step by step
Find your annual usage in kWh
Look on your latest bill or annual statement for your estimated annual consumption in kWh for gas and electricity separately. This number, not your monthly direct debit, is what you need for a fair comparison. If you have just moved or your bill uses estimates, take actual meter readings and give them to your current supplier first. Note your tariff name, whether you pay by direct debit, and any exit fee and end date shown on your bill.
