Trim, join, caption and export a short video using the free editor on your computer or phone, so it looks tidy for family, social media or your business.

Estimated time: 1–2 hoursUpdated: 2 October 2026

Use this guide when you have phone clips of an event, a product or a how-to and want a short, watchable video without buying software. Have your clips copied to one folder or album, any music or logo you are allowed to use, and an idea of where the video will be shared.

Step by step

  1. Plan the video in three lines

Write down who the video is for, where it will be shown and its length, for example "Customers on Facebook, 60 seconds, showing a finished patio". Then list the clips in order: opening shot, the main content and a closing shot or message. A plan this short stops you dragging every clip onto the timeline and ending up with ten dull minutes.
