Recover and compare with version history
Online documents and spreadsheets keep a version history: in Google Docs it is under File, then Version history; in Word or Excel stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, use File, then Info or the version history option. You can see who changed what, restore an older version, or copy a lost paragraph back without overwriting newer work. Name important versions, such as "Sent to client 3 Oct", so you can find them quickly later.
