Report a misleading advert or fake reviews

Gather evidence of a misleading advert, influencer post or fake reviews and report it to the right UK body so it can be investigated and changed.

Estimated time: 20–30 minutesUpdated: 1 October 2026

Use this guide when you see an advert, promotion, social media post or set of reviews that seems misleading, harmful or not clearly labelled as advertising. You do not need to have bought anything. Have the advert in front of you or a screenshot of it.

Step by step

  1. Capture the advert before it disappears

Take a screenshot or photo showing the whole advert, where it appeared and the date. For online adverts, include the web address or account name; for TV or radio, note the channel, date and time; for posters, note the location. Ads and social posts are often changed or removed quickly, so capture them first and decide what to do later.
