Use this guide if you run a local service or shop, such as a trade, salon, cleaning, tutoring or a small café, and want more customers without a big advertising spend. Have a list of your services, a few good photos of your work and an idea of how many new customers you can handle.

Step by step

  1. Get found when people search locally

Claim and complete your free business profiles on the main map and search services: correct name, phone number, opening hours, service area, categories and at least ten clear photos of real work. Use exactly the same name, address and phone number everywhere online. Add a short description in plain words customers use, such as 'garden clearance in [your town] and nearby villages' rather than jargon. Post an update or new photo every couple of weeks to keep the profile active.
