  1. Understand what an apprenticeship involves

    An apprenticeship is a real job with training, leading to a recognised qualification, and there is no upper age limit. You are employed and paid, spend part of your working time on training, and are assessed at the end. Levels range from intermediate up to degree level, so experienced adults can often start at a higher level than school leavers. Check current apprentice pay rules on GOV.UK, as the minimum rate depends on age and year of the apprenticeship.
